ROBUSTA COFFEE
Conversely, robusta coffee is more resilient and simpler to cultivate; it can flourish at lower elevations and is more resilient to pests and illnesses. It produces almost 40% of the coffee produced worldwide. Robusta is mainly grown in Tanzania's western areas, around Bukoba, and around Lake Victoria. Robusta coffee is known for its powerful, rich flavor that carries overtones of grain and peanuts. Its flavor is earthy and harsh because it contains almost twice as much caffeine than Arabica. Although Robusta is not as well-known as Arabica, it is becoming more and more respected in espresso blends because of its rich flavor and capacity to produce crema.
